The art of natural language programming
Change is never comfortable. What happens when the rules of your craft are changing faster than you can learn them? The engineering community is going through complex emotions - grief for what may be slipping away, and fear for losing identity, agency and control. What I am grieving though, is the sense of mastering the craft that I might never get to have as someone who entered the field in the dawn of the agentic era.
When I introspect on why it feels extremely uncomfortable sometimes to “let it rip” when it comes to programming with CLIs, underneath it is a deep fear of not understanding what I am doing - the imposter syndrome that never left me.
